Entre las 81 municipalidades, la de Santa Ana es la que registró una mejor gestión durante el 2013, de acuerdo con el ranquin anual que realiza la Contraloría General de la República.
En segundo lugar quedó San Carlos y en tercero Cartago, los tres obtuvieron por primera vez calificaciones superiores a los 80 puntos en una escala de uno a 100.
La medición asigna puntos según su labor en cuenta a desarrollo, gestión institucional planificación, participación ciudadana, rendición de cuentas, desarrollo ambiental y servicios económicos sociales.
Las municiapales de Los Chiles, Guatuso y Turrubares fueron las peores calificadas en el ranquin con puntajes inferiores a 40.
En promedio la calificación fue de 56,3 puntos, solo un 1,2 por encima de la registrada en el 2012.
Mientras que 17 no superaron la barrera de los 45 puntos, principalmente por yerros en el control interno, la prestación de servicios de parques, rendición de cuentas, planificación, recursos humanos y tecnologías de la información.
